Google’s Pixel Watch has been one of the most anticipated products of last year. It was well-received by the public and tech junkies alike. However, its not-so-tough durability has quickly become an issue for some users.
Reports started coming in yesterday of some Pixel Watch users experiencing cracked screens on their watch’s face. This isn’t an uncommon issue for smartphones, but it is one that Google should have taken more seriously in terms of tinkering with their product before launch. Unfortunately, the company has declined to offer any repairs or warranties for these cracked screens.
It’s unclear what’s causing the screens to crack. It could be due to a number of factors, such as applying a lot of pressure to the watch face, dropping it, or simply bad luck. Some have speculated that the defect could be related to a hardware-based issue, but that hasn’t been confirmed at this point.
Even though Google has announced that they will not offer any repairs or warranty on cracked screens, it appears that some retail outlets may still be willing to replace the watch. However, that will come at an additional cost.
It’s quite disappointing to see Google’s lack of preparation for this issue. Considering how much was invested in the R&D of this product, it should have been ready to take on any durability related issues. Sadly, it appears that has not been the case.
It does bring into question the said durability of the Pixel Watch. If it can’t even last a few days without experiencing a major defect, then users are right to be worried. As of now, Google has not provided any response to this issue, but surely they will come up with some form of solution.
In the meantime, if you own a Pixel Watch, it’s best to be extra careful with it and take necessary precautions. It’s also recommended to always check the warranty terms of your purchase, just in case. Unfortunately, for those who have already experienced a cracked screen on their Pixel Watch, it looks like they’ll just have to deal with it until Google makes amends.
