Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is poised to celebrate his 70th birthday in grand style on the night of March 10 with a California fundraiser gala in Beverly Hills in order to help support his causes. Every year, the event draws many of Hollywood’s elite, and this year’s fundraiser is likely to be no different.
As the eldest son of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel, Robert Kennedy Jr. has certainly grown up around politics. His father was a senator and former Attorney General while his grandfather was the U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain. Kennedy Jr.’s involvement in politics began in the 1980s when he was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He has since continued his work in government as well as an active public advocate for environmental, human, and animal rights.
Kennedy Jr.’s upcoming birthday celebration is sure to be a star-studded event, as the proceeds from the gala are meant to help support his causes, such as voter education, environmental responsibility, and conservation. According to the invitation, each table of eight guests is required to pay a $50,000 donation to the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Foundation in order to have the privilege of attending the gala.
As the gala is held on the night before the New Hampshire Primary, a major date on the Presidential Election calendar, there is bound to be some political presence at the event. Even though he currently hasn’t declared his candidacy, Kennedy Jr. has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination. If he decides to follow in his father’s footsteps and enter the race, then the gala could signal the start of an even bigger celebration.
Whether the evening turns into a political event or simply a grand 70th birthday celebration for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., this is sure to be one of the most action-packed and star-studded events of the year.
