Political tension has been peaking in the United States, particularly among certain demographics. A recent poll has indicated that President Trump is making gains ground with Hispanic voters, a voting bloc that has historically leaned Democrat.
This marks a notable shift in allegiance as, prior to now, support for President Trump was relatively low among Hispanic voters across the nation. However, the latest survey conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, a survey research company, sheds light on the evolving landscape of this particular voting bloc.
According to the survey results, President Trump’s approval rating among Hispanic voters has gone up 7% since the start of the current presidential campaign season. More surprisingly, however, is the fact that the former president’s disapproval rating among Hispanic voters has dropped by 11%.
While the survey revealed an overall improvement in President Trump’s standing among Hispanic voters, it’s important to point out that the president still lags behind likely Democratic nominee Joe Biden. The former Vice President leads Trump by 9% in his favorability among Hispanic voters, despite the shift in the polls. Furthermore, the survey also found that the majority of this demographic continues to express strong support for the left-leaning social and economic policies of the Democratic party.
Nonetheless, this newfound support for President Trump is not insignificant – it signals how demographic trends are ever-evolving and that no one can take electoral outcomes for granted. It also reveals how the president has been able to appeal to a certain segment of the population and create a positive opinion among it.
It remains to be seen if President Trump can maintain and improve upon this newfound support as the election cycle progresses. Only time will tell if the Hispanic voter bloc will play a crucial role in the 2020 presidential election.
